The
Oak Bay Archives is here to:
- • Collect
and preserve Oak Bay’s history,
• Catalogue, index and safe
keep collected material,
• Make material available
for reference and research and
• Increase public knowledge
and educate future generations in Oak Bay’s heritage.

Scholars,
students & the general public can access the Archives.
- We
are in the basement of the Oak Bay Municipal Hall. Drop in Tuesday
9:30 to noon, Thursday 1-3 pm or make an appointment. Our volunteers
will be there to assist you.Academic
researchers and students are encouraged to make an appointment.

We
offer a copying service for archival documents.
- Generally
the archives staff will accept orders for copies, but this
will depend upon what restrictions are placed on the file.
A charge of 25 cents per page and cost recovery charges for
photographic reproduction will be levied. Orders require
at least 7 days for processing. Digital transmission of copies
depends on current availability and staff time.

We
accept donations.
- We
are happy to accept any photographs, maps, recordings, personal
papers or documents relating to the social or geographical
history of Oak Bay. Unfortunately, because our space is limited
we are unable to collect artifacts that may be more appropriate
for a museum collection.
