was originally the famous architects F.M. Rattenbury's own home.
It sits along the seafront at 1701 Beach Drive. The first portion
of the property was built in 1898. With additions,
the school now has some 300 students.

by Samuel Maclure in 1910. Although the property, MELMORBY (later ELTHAM),
is not designated, it was protected in 1996 by a Heritage Revitalization
Permit.

The KILDONAN property at 931 Foul Bay
Road has recently received a lot of attention, particularly for
its gardens. It was built in 1913 by Samuel Maclure and was designated
as heritage in 1987.

The TOD HOUSE located at 2564 Heron
Street has also recently been in the news. It is the oldest of
the Oak Bay properties and possibly the oldest in western Canada.
It was built in 1850 by an unknown architect. The provincial
government and the District of Oak Bay are presently negotiating
an agreement in regards to its ownership.

The property at 915 Island Road was built
in 1896/97 possibly by J.G. Tiarks. It is one of a pair that
was built together with its counterpart at 929 Island Road, although
only the one is legally protected. It was designated as heritage
in 1977.

BLAIR GOWIE is located at 2031 Runnymede
Avenue. The original home was built by Samuel Maclure in 1916.
With additions, it became a designated heritage building in 1980.

cluster of five houses known as PATIO
COURT is located on San Carlos Avenue (2390, 2396,
2402, 2408, and 2417 respectively). The homes were built
in 1927 by
architects K.B. Spurgen and J. Graham Johnson and were
designated in
1993. Stuart Stark, in his inventory of Oak Bay's Heritage
Buildings
calls them, "a little storybook fantasy that appears
at the end of the road". This is 2390 San Carlos Avenue.

the most significant house in Oak Bay". Over the years,
many notable people lived and dined within its vast and elegant
rooms.
